How to think with your Soul

The mind has 60,000-80,000 thoughts a day and the majority of them are negative. It’s no wonder why it’s so hard to think positively and quiet that incessant inner critic that won’t shut the F*ck up about why you are not doing enough, how you can be doing, being or having more.

One of the reasons it’s so hard to think with your soul is that as a society we have been conditioned to believe that we think with our minds. But I’m here to tell you something….the soul resides in the body and without accessing and connecting with your body- it’s really hard to connect with your soul’s wisdom and infinite power.

Here are 3 ways to start thinking with your soul

Mindful Breathing

The breath is literally life force energy and something most of us take for granted. Life happens through the breath without it we are dead. One way to access your soul is through your breath. When we can practice mindful breathing it opens up pathways out of our heads and into our bodies. Mindful breathing helps us quiet the negative thoughts and calms the mind down to give leeway to what our soul is actually thinking. The purpose of mindful breathing is to anchor yourself in the present moment, without worrying about the past or the future, which our minds often go to. By focusing on your breath, you are practicing accessing how your body is feeling at that moment and that moment alone- without judgement.

Answer the call to DANCE

They say the hidden language of the soul is dance, and I couldn’t agree more. Your soul is calling, aching for more, for you to answer the call but the connection gets interrupted by our minds. One way to think with your soul is to move your body and DANCE. Every BODY is a dancer, it’s not about following steps or how you look but about feeling the music, your heart and giving time and space to listen to what your soul is telling you.

Dance gives way to releasing any stuck emotions, process how you’re really feeling and let go of what is no longer serving you. Just as you move mindfully and aware, emotions arise as they do in life but in a way gives you permission to hear it’s wisdom and process it without suppressing it or getting distracted with life. It’s an opportunity to show up for yourself and really feel it to heal it in the most transformative way- on the dance floor.

Listen to the voice within

Less perfection and more EXPRESSION- one of the ways we get stuck in our minds and it’s so hard to connect and listen in to our soul’s messages is because we aren’t asking empowering questions. Journaling is one of the best ways to listen to the whispers, the niggles and nudges that your soul is trying to emerge through your pen. Expressing and flowing through asking your soul empowering questions helps you find your light and connect with your higher self and truly listen to your soul.

You can’t hear the thoughts of your soul if you don’t make space for it in your day. It’s a lot harder to ignore your soul’s thoughts than it is to mindfully listen. And remember the soul speaks to us in feelings, vibrations, challenges, synchronicities, people, nature, movement and emotions. It’s in the body, in the heart and on the dance floor of your life’s journey. Your soul is calling you, now the question is are you going to answer?
